Description
I own an advertising specialty company - now in our 42nd year I am happy to report - and worked in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm.Over the years I collected many over-run samples, one-or-a-kind spec samples and the like.
I am now offering much of that collection via eBay. Among our suppliers of better quality writing instruments was a company called "Alcraft". Alcraft was a well respected manufacturer of nice writing instruments and other advertising items. In 2001 Alcraft introduced an upscale line called "Spector". There were only four styles, but each style could be ordered in a variety of metal combinations. The styles were called: Allegro, Bellissimo, Concerto, and Dolce. They were given Italian names as the designs were European in styling, and quite distinctive. The metal choices were: Chromium, Platinum Two Tone and Titanium. All are beautifully sculptured, and very substantial in weight. Classy!
The pens were a bit expensive, especially considering 2001 prices. In quantities of 25 they were .50 each and dropping to .95 each at 500 units. Factory set-up fees were additional. However, when I purchased this kit in 2001, it came with a certificate for one free set-up. Certificate is still enclosed. The pens use a standard screw top refill. As these are the original refills, if used rather than displayed, new refills are needed - which are readily available.
Although I purchased this kit in 2001, I never even showed the pens to potential customers. While beautiful pens, the price points were not appropriate for my customer base. Due to the metals used and construction, the high price was necessary. However, i could sell my customers Sheaffer or parker's lower end pens for less money.
While this sample kit is 20 years old, it is in pristine as new condition - other than needing new refills.
The salesman sample kit is 6.25" x 4.25" closed. The custom foam insert holds the instruments in place until removed for inspection. Velcro closure. The instruments were manufactured in China, and the presentation case in Taiwan.
This is a beautiful and unusual salesman pen sample kit.
What a find - especially in this condition!
